This film is made using Malayalam news channel clippings, old Hindi songs, and hand-drawn animation. It illustrates a peculiar, but often common practice in many households, of watching horrific news on television while eating – a habit I became accustomed to when having dinner with my grandfather during summer holidays. From the desensitization to news to viewing current events as a sort of entertainment, this personal observation strives to showcase behaviours and issues that are universal.
Songs used:
‘Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar’ from Hum Dono (1961)
‘Badan Pe Sitare Lapete Huye’ from Prince (1969)
‘Piya Tose Naina Laage Re’ from Guide (1965)
